Job Description

The candidate will be required to operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
The candidate will be required to operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment.
The candidate will be required to maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing and soldering equipment
The candidate must interpret welding process specifications.
The candidate will be required to fit, braze, and torch-straighten metal.
The candidate must determine the weldability of materials.
The candidate will be required to operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products.
The candidate must operate previously set-up brazing or soldering machines to bond metal or fill holes, indentations, and seams in metal.
The candidate must be able to read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and processes.
The candidate would be in charge of inspecting welds to ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications.
The candidate must be able to use oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air), (AOC).
The candidate will be required to use Computer-aided design (CAD).
The candidate will be responsible for welding small and large components such as copper plumbing, beams, and pipelines.
The candidate will be responsible for detecting flaws in welded surfaces, structures, and components.
The candidate will be required to align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.
The candidate will be responsible for maintaining equipment in good working order so that safety is not compromised.
The candidate will be in charge of assembling all components using power and hand tools.
The candidate will be in charge of analysing the speed and length of the welding arc throughout the welding process.

Equipment and Machinery Experience

The candidate should have prior experience operating a Gas welding machine, Butt or seam resistance welding machine, Arc welding machine and Spot welding machine.

Area of Specialization

The candidate should be skilled in ornamental work, furniture, custom fabrication, cast iron and other metals, and structural construction.

Work Setting

The candidate will be expected to work in a manufacturing, industrial, and commercial setting.

Own Tools/Equipment

Candidates are required to wear steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses or goggles, Gloves, Face shield and Welding helmet.

Work Site Environment

The candidate should be willing to work in an outdoor environment for long hours.
The candidate will be required to work in wet or damp, dusty and hot or cold environments.
The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
The candidate will be required to work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.
