Job Description

  • The candidate must operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials safely and efficiently.
  • The candidate must inspect the vehicle’s condition, including the brakes, tires, lights, and other essential components.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections, as well as overseeing all aspects of the vehicle.
  • The candidate will be responsible for tarping and ensuring the safety and security of cargo.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
  • The ideal candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must have a DZ class license, a Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR) Certificate and a Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.
  • The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate must be well-organized.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Experience and specialization

Documentation knowledge

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about accident or incident reports, driver logbooks and inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip).

Type of trucking and equipment

  • The candidate must have experience operating a stone slinger truck.

Transportation/travel experience

  • The candidate must have travel experience in the local area.
  • The candidate must have experience with short-haul travel.

Additional information

Security and safety

  • The candidate must undergo a driver’s licence validity check and a driving record check (abstract).

  • The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.

Work conditions and physical capabilities

  • The candidate should have an eye for detail.
  • The candidate should be willing to work for long hours in a sitting position.
