Job description
- Operate waste collection vehicles and equipment
- Collect garbage, recyclables, organics and large items
- Load materials manually or using mechanical systems
- Transport waste to disposal facilities and unload
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and report issues
- Keep vehicles and equipment clean and in good condition
- Assist with vehicle movement and safety when working in a crew
- Use radio or mobile devices for coordination
- Complete reports related to incidents or duties
- Carry out general labour and cleaning tasks when required
Job requirements
- Class D driver’s licence with Z endorsement
- Ability to meet city equipment operating requirements
- Knowledge of safety regulations or willingness to learn
- Good driving record and awareness of major city streets
- Physically able to handle demanding outdoor work in all weather
- Able to work rotating shifts as required
