Job description

  • Operate waste collection vehicles and equipment
  • Collect garbage, recyclables, organics and large items
  • Load materials manually or using mechanical systems
  • Transport waste to disposal facilities and unload
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and report issues
  • Keep vehicles and equipment clean and in good condition
  • Assist with vehicle movement and safety when working in a crew
  • Use radio or mobile devices for coordination
  • Complete reports related to incidents or duties
  • Carry out general labour and cleaning tasks when required

Job requirements

  • Class D driverโ€™s licence with Z endorsement
  • Ability to meet city equipment operating requirements
  • Knowledge of safety regulations or willingness to learn
  • Good driving record and awareness of major city streets
  • Physically able to handle demanding outdoor work in all weather
  • Able to work rotating shifts as required
