Job Description
- The candidate must arrange and/or supervise access visits with children in care when directed by the Social Program Officer or Team Leader, following initial orientation by a social worker.
- The candidate must support parents in locating and enrolling in community-based parenting and relevant programs by maintaining information on community resources, assessing client needs, and evaluating program suitability.
- The candidate must support youth-in-care (YIC) and service providers in independent living plans by assisting with arranging services and activities in accordance with the plan.
- The candidate must distribute information to families seeking or receiving services through CYSN and/or CYMH and collect information to assist in determining eligibility.
- The candidate must assist in conducting child abuse and neglect investigations and preparing reports by identifying information sources and facilitating contact.
- The candidate must assist with information gathering for care plan development.
- The candidate must provide child case management assistance by serving court notices, answering questions about Children in Care (CIC) rights, completing referrals, and ensuring foster parent payments are processed.
- The candidate must participate in multi-disciplinary case conferences, organize discussions, and document case management points.
- The candidate must draft court documents at the direction of the Social Program Officer for approval and signature.
- The candidate must serve court documents at the direction of the Social Program Officer and provide support during court appearances when required.
- The candidate must provide transportation assistance by arranging and/or transporting children in care.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must have Secondary School Graduation or equivalent.
- The candidate must have completed at least two (2) years of post-secondary studies toward a degree, diploma, or certificate in a related human services field or equivalent discipline (including Social Work, Child & Youth Care, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology, or Nursing), along with a minimum of one (1) year of related work experience.
- The candidate must have completed at least one (1) year of post-secondary studies toward a degree, diploma, or certificate in a related human services field or equivalent discipline (including Social Work, Child & Youth Care, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology, or Nursing), along with a minimum of two (2) years of related work experience.
- The candidate must have a minimum of three (3) years or more of related work experience.
- The candidate may be considered based on an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- The candidate must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence with no restrictions or an equivalent licence from another Canadian province.
- Preference may be given to applicants who have experience working with MCFD Integrated Case Management (ICM) and/or Management Information Systems (MIS).
- Preference may be given to applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) and who meet the required combination of education and experience.
- The candidate must be located in British Columbia at the time of employment.
