Job Description
- Candidates working at this post are required to collect money for permits and lockage fees applied for this post.
- They’re also required at this post to provide housekeeping, grounds keeping and general maintenance at lock stations along the Rideau Canal working at this post.
Job requirement
- Students who are currently enrolled in full-time or part-time studies at an accredited institution are preferred for this post.
- Applicants must have experience in client service and working with the public to be eligible for this post. They must have prior experience in groundskeeping, janitorial maintenance, or other labour-intensive functions, including using tools and equipment to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates must attain dedicated knowledge of the Parks Canada Agency and the historic canals or waterways and the services they provide to the public to get preferred for this post.
- Applicants must attain the ability to wear a Parks Canada uniform and Personal Protective Equipment when required to be eligible for this post.
- They must be willing and able to do work that involves strenuous physical labour to be preferred for this post.
Work setting
- Applicants are also required to be willing and able to obtain and maintain a valid Standard First Aid certification working at this post.
- They must be able to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays to be preferred for this post.
