Job description

  • Maintain park turf through mowing, trimming, fertilizing and litter removal
  • Operate mechanized grounds maintenance and grass cutting equipment
  • Set up semi-automatic and automatic irrigation systems
  • Clean and complete minor repairs to park washrooms and facilities
  • Maintain benches, playing fields, walkways and ice rinks
  • Assist with horticultural beds and shrub maintenance
  • Set up park equipment including benches and sports posts
  • Clear snow and maintain walkways and entrances
  • Perform general park upkeep and related duties as assigned

Job requirements

  • Background in grounds maintenance and/or horticulture preferably in a park setting
  • Background operating grounds maintenance and grass cutting equipment
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence
  • Can work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • The person can work during weekends and shift hours and additional unexpected work hours when necessary. The individual has knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • The person can follow verbal directions and written instructions.
