Job Description
- Intermediate Java Backend Developers with a minimum of 4 years experience are suitable for this role, as this role will demand expertise in your Java knowledge.
- Involves joining the Financial Services Technology team to build and support robust and efficient systems.
- Developing and maintaining Net Asset Value (NAV) platforms and systems to support fund operations.
- Helping support shareholder transactions, performance reporting, and management of liquidity.
- It is a full-time permanent role in office for 5 days a week.
- There are possibilities for working from Halifax, NS; Moncton, NB or Stratford, PEI.
Responsibilities
- Develop scalable backend applications in Java/ J2EE and Spring.
- Develop and maintain APIs, web services, and database components (PL/SQL, SQL, schemas), preferably Oracle or DB2.
- Work with product owners, architects, and more senior developers/engineers to develop the technical strategy and execution plan together with operational support .
- Participate in code reviews with feedback on design and architecture.
- Coordinates with stakeholders work to ensure integrations into the system are in place and operate as expected.
- Follow verified and accepted industry best practices around testing, documentation and software development lifecycle management.
Requirements
- 4 years of Java backend development experience .
- Strong database skills including schema design, PL/SQL and DBSQL optimization.
- Experience using Git and an understanding of standard branching strategies.
- Strong troubleshooting and solving issues, if technical issues occur.
- Understanding of unit and integration testing, demonstrating code will work as intended.
- Experience in agile methodology
Relevant experience with CI/CD tools, code quality tools (for example: Sonar). - Experience in the Financial Services industry, or with Mutual Fund operations.
