WRHA has released a notification in which they’re inviting candidates for the post of Home Care Attendant. They are responsible for the provision of personal care and home support services to an individual or group of home care clients as assigned. They are required to be immunized as a condition of employment in accordance with Southern Health-Santé Sud policy.

Job description
- Candidates have to provide paraprofessional services to assist frail, physically disabled, and/or mentally challenged clients of all ages to remain in their own homes as long as safely possible.
- Candidates will exercise the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters.
- They function in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.
- They must have previous experience working with the elderly or disabled in a community setting is preferred.
Job requirement
- Candidates must have Grade 12 education.
- They need Home Care Attendant Certificate or Health Care Aide Certificate with community components from a recognized post-secondary institute.
- Candidates must have knowledge of Safe Food Handling.
- Candidates must have proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.
- They must have demonstrated the ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
- They must have demonstrated the ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
- Candidates must attain a good work and attendance record.
Work setting
- Candidates must complete and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Child Abuse Registry Check, as appropriate.
- They must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00.
- They are required to be immunized as a condition of employment in accordance with Southern Health-Santé Sud policy.
