Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for supporting high-risk youth and their families in Chilliwack and surrounding areas.
  • The candidate will be responsible for providing community-based mental health care and direct clinical services.
  • The candidate will be responsible for intake, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention for children, youth, and their families facing barriers to accessing CYMH services.
  • The candidate will be responsible for consulting with community agencies, schools, hospitals, and ministry programs while supporting education, development, and early intervention initiatives.
  • The candidate will be responsible for collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support the mental health and well-being of children and youth.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must hold a Master’s degree in Counselling, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology, Child and Youth Care, or a related field, or a comparable graduate degree in a similar discipline may be considered.
  • The candidate will be required to ensure that degree earned outside Canada is evaluated for equivalency through ICES and a basic report is submitted by the closing date.
  • The candidate must have a minimum of one year full-time experience in a treatment role working with children and youth experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges.
  • The candidate must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with no restrictions or an equivalent licence from another Canadian province.
  • The candidate will be required to have at least two (2) years of experience in a treatment role supporting children and youth with mental health or substance use concerns.
  • The candidate must have experience using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) with children and/or youth.
  • The candidate must have experience treating children and youth with suicidal risk.
  • The candidate will be required to have experience delivering family-based treatment approaches.
  • The candidate will be required to have experience applying trauma-informed approaches.
  • The candidate will be required to deliver services using an outreach-based approach.
  • The candidate must have experience providing services utilizing a strength-based case management model and multi-disciplinary wraparound services.
  • The candidate must have experience liaising with or working in hospital settings.
  • The candidate who self-identifies as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) may be considered if they possess the required combination of education and experience.
  • The candidate must be located in British Columbia at the time of employment.
