Job Description

  • The candidate will provide operational support to the front-of-house team during peak business periods and as required, including coverage for vacations, leaves, and staffing shortages.
  • The candidate will manage and complete daily administrative responsibilities when not required to support floor operations.
  • The candidate will coordinate operational requirements for special events and private theatre rentals in collaboration with the Theatre Manager, Sales and Membership Coordinator, and Director.
  • The candidate will ensure guest enquiries are addressed and resolved promptly and professionally across all communication channels, including in-person, telephone, and email interactions.
  • The candidate will communicate and resolve theatre ticketing issues and guest feedback in collaboration with the box office team.
  • The candidate will maintain the point-of-sale system, implement updates as required, and troubleshoot IT issues related to the POS system and IMAX digital signage.
  • The candidate will maintain and develop professional relationships with vendors and negotiate competitive pricing for products while ensuring compliance with vendor return and credit policies.
  • The candidate will maintain and communicate current information on films, promotions, events, and schedule changes to staff to support effective day-to-day operations in their absence.
  • The candidate will monitor and adhere to established departmental budgets while ensuring compliance with corporate procurement policies and documentation procedures.
  • The candidate will ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and regulatory requirements in collaboration with the facilities team.
  • The candidate will maintain theatre and concession equipment and coordinate the resolution of repair issues impacting operations with the relevant departments.
  • The candidate will purchase food, beverages, and additional operational supplies required for theatre, concession, and front-of-house operations.
  • The candidate will be responsible for tracking monthly inventory levels of all products, including food, beverages, and maintenance supplies, and submitting monthly on-hand inventory reports to the finance department, including details of wastage, promotional discounts, and coupon redemptions.
  • The candidate will verify invoice accuracy against purchase orders, code and sign invoices as received, and submit them for approval.
  • The candidate will investigate and resolve cash handling variances in collaboration with the Revenue Manager and ensure appropriate follow-up and corrective actions are taken when required.
  • The candidate will coordinate and deliver catering services, including coffee and pastry orders, and ensure concession invoices are accurately issued and processed in a timely manner.
  • The candidate will manage bi-weekly staff scheduling and staffing activities while ensuring compliance with the collective agreement, including seniority requirements, availability considerations, leave administration, and recall processes.
  • The candidate will manage day-to-day staff performance through ongoing coaching focused on service standards and product knowledge.
  • The candidate will address and resolve workplace conflicts in a timely and constructive manner.
  • The candidate will ensure appropriate staff recruitment and selection processes and support hiring competitions.
  • The candidate will coordinate the onboarding and training of new employees while working closely with the Theatre Manager and front-of-house team members.
  • The candidate will conduct regular one-to-one meetings with direct reports to review performance, development opportunities, operational requirements, and job satisfaction.
  • The candidate will contribute to the development of front-of-house policies and procedures while ensuring alignment with corporate standards and workplace safety requirements.
  • The candidate will ensure direct reports complete all mandatory training by established deadlines.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must have a minimum of three years of experience working in a supervisory role within the attraction or hospitality industry.
  • The candidate must have proven experience managing food and beverage operations.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with additional years of experience working in a supervisory role within the attraction or hospitality field.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who possess a Post-Secondary Diploma in Hospitality Management.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience working in a theatre or cinema environment.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have completed Food Safe Level 1, WHMIS, CPR, and First Aid courses.
  • The candidate must be legally authorized to work in Canada and hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.

Work Conditions
