Job Description

  • The candidate must assess children’s development to prepare learning plans tailored to their needs.
  • The candidate must assist co-workers in housekeeping and cooking duties.
  • The candidate must bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers.
  • The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing childcare programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • The candidate must maintain daycare equipment.
  • The candidate must perform storytelling activities.
  • The candidate must synthesize the overall situation of the children and communicate this information to their parents.
  • The candidate must assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote children’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
  • The candidate must lead activities such as telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
  • The candidate will be responsible for assisting early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records.
  • The candidate must encourage children to express their creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
  • The candidate must engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
  • The candidate must guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
  • The candidate must prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
  • The candidate must observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural issues and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
  • The candidate must submit written observations of children to early childhood educators or supervisors.
  • The candidate must discuss children’s progress and any problems at staff meetings.
  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about licensing regulations.
  • The candidate must establish guidelines for behaviour.
  • The candidate must attend staff meetings to discuss the progress and problems of the children.
  • The candidate must develop and maintain collaborative relationships with coworkers and community service providers who work with children.
  • The candidate must plan and maintain an environment that protects children’s health, safety, and well-being.
  • The candidate must plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
  • The candidate must have 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a related field.
  • The candidate must hold a Child Development Worker (ECE Level 2) Certificate, Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR Certificate, Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate.
  • The candidate should be dependable.
  • The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate must be flexible.
  • The candidate must be interpersonally aware.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
  • The candidate should give importance to values and ethics.
