Job Description
- The position requires a light vehicle driver to support transportation operations at the defence organization.

Responsibilities
- The drivers operate light vehicles to move personnel and materials and equipment between locations.
- The drivers must comply with all departmental regulations and road safety rules while operating their vehicles.
- The drivers perform routine vehicle inspections while they complete basic vehicle maintenance tasks.
- The driver needs to record all vehicle activities which include vehicle usage and transportation details.
- The organization needs to deliver items between defence locations in a safe and timely manner.
- The driver needs to report all vehicle problems and incidents and safety issues which arise.
Requirements
- The security clearance needs to be obtained and maintained at Reliable, Secret, or Top Secret levels because Top Secret clearance requires Canadian citizenship.
- The applicant needs to obtain and maintain a DND 404 driver’s license.
The applicant needs to drive vehicles for 4 to 5 hours while also entering and exiting vehicles multiple times. - The organization needs all employees to follow DND regulations and Public Sector Values and Ethics codes and conflict-of-interest policies.
- The organization needs workers who can fulfill standby requirements and handle overtime and night duties and work on weekends and holidays.
- All employees must use CSA approved safety footwear and necessary personal protective equipment according to organizational requirements.
- The employee needs to prove they can perform physical tasks which require them to lift 25 kilograms and bend and ascend into equipment.
- The employee needs to complete training on additional vehicles which support their work duties.
- The employee needs to handle work tasks which involve operating in environments with loud sounds and hazardous fumes and airborne dust particles.
- The job requires candidates to demonstrate experience in operating passenger vehicles which can carry up to 15 people and in driving 5-ton trucks.

- The requirement for English or French or bilingual language skills depends on the specific job requirements.
