Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for researching and staying informed on relevant global cultural and aesthetic trends, as well as global guest preferences.
- The candidate will be responsible for analyzing how trends and colours emerge and influence the assigned product category.
- The candidate will be responsible for collating research, identifying patterns, and drawing conclusions to support informed decision-making.
- The candidate will be responsible for editing research through the lens of the brand strategy.
- The candidate will be responsible for creating black and white sketches in alignment with research, brand identity, brief intent, and IMU targets.
- The candidate will be responsible for creating 3D mock-ups and in-house prototypes to support 2D sketches, as required.
- The candidate will be responsible for presenting sketches to Design leaders for review and feedback.
- The candidate will be responsible for selecting fabrics and trims from the raw material library for assigned styles.
- The candidate will be responsible for applying colour and graphics to the assortment, including new, core, and carryover styles, while considering feasibility, known limitations, and commercial viability.
- The candidate will be responsible for presenting coloured-up sketches to cross-functional partners for sketch review and sign-off, while clearly communicating alignment to the brief and design inspiration sources.
- The candidate will be responsible for completing technical sketches detailing materials, construction techniques, trims, and fit, and handing them over to PD/TD while collaborating with technical developers to ensure accuracy and commercial feasibility.
- The candidate will be responsible for fitting styles to ensure design intent is accurately achieved and IMU targets are met, while identifying opportunities for improvement and recommending necessary adjustments.
- The candidate will be responsible for presenting physical prototypes of on-body garments to cross-functional partners in preparation for commercial sign-off during proto review.
- The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the coloured assortment based on feedback and change requests from Design leadership and cross-functional partners.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of product design experience.
- The candidate must hold a BA, BFA, or BS in Design or an equivalent qualification.
- The candidate must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
- The candidate must demonstrate strong design skills to creatively conceptualize, design, and construct garments that are aesthetically pleasing, functional, and commercially viable through a combination of artistic vision, technical expertise, and industry knowledge.
- The candidate must clearly articulate design ideas and concepts to team members, stakeholders, and cross-functional partners through both verbal and visual communication, while actively listening to and incorporating feedback.
- The candidate must demonstrate aesthetic intelligence with the ability to understand and appreciate design nuances to create visually appealing styles that resonate with the target audience.
- The candidate must demonstrate innovative thinking with the ability to generate new ideas, processes, and solutions that advance product creation.
- The candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of global markets and translate fashion trends and consumer behaviours into designs that align with and strengthen the brand’s identity and reputation.
