Salary: $64,356.82 – $94,153.39 annually which includes a Market Adjustment of up to $270.31 bi-weekly and a $10,000 recruitment and incentive payment. Eligible employees will receive the recruitment and incentive payment of $10,000 annually (payable in two semi-annual installments of $5,000 and pro-rated for partial periods of employment), as well as a benefits package worth up to $19,851 annually. (New recruits are paid $60,919.30 annually during the 33-day training program).

Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the security and safety of individuals in custody through pro-social modelling, program delivery, and positive guidance.
- The candidate will be responsible for creating a supportive environment that encourages behavioural change for individuals in custody.
- The candidate will be responsible for working across multiple departments within the correctional centre alongside a team of dedicated professionals.
- The candidate will have the opportunity to utilize and strengthen skills in communication, conflict resolution, and leadership as a correctional officer.
- The candidate will work within the Adult Custody Division of BC Corrections, which is responsible for the care and custody of approximately 2,800 individuals and plays a leading role in the criminal justice system.
Job Requirements
- The candidate will be required to meet the minimum age of 19 years or above.
- The candidate will be required to have completed Grade 12 or equivalent.
- The candidate must have Grade 12 English with a final grade of 70% or equivalent.
- The candidate must hold a valid BC Driver’s Licence (minimum Class 5) or equivalent from another province.
- The candidate must be a Canadian citizen or hold a minimum of 3 years Permanent Resident status in Canada.
- The candidate must reside in British Columbia at the time of employment as per BC Public Service guidelines.
