Job Description

  • Candidates are appointed to apply investigative methods to inspect airports and heliports to ensure their compliance with safety standards.  
  • They’re also appointed for understanding and applying design standards, reviewing and approve plans and specifications, and utilizing field survey instruments. 
  • They’re also appointed to conduct interviews to evaluate the physical condition and safety status of existing and proposed airports and heliports.
  • They’re also appointed to work with airport and heliport managers and owners to resolve safety and standards issues and improve safety conditions.

Job requirement 

  • Candidates must attain a dedicated degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • They must attain the ability to communicate easily in both oral and written.
  • They must attain a dedicated bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognized university with a specialization in aeronautical, mechanical or electrical engineering or computer sciences.
  • Candidates must attain post-secondary education in an aviation or related program to the position.
  • Candidates must attain a minimum of 3 years of experience acquired within the last 6 years working as a pilot with a Canadian Air Operator to be eligible for this post. 
  • They must attain dedicated experience working in a regulatory transportation environment.
  • They must attain a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience to be eligible for this post. 

Work setting 

  • Candidates must attain experience as a Civil Aviation Safety Inspector with dedicated experience as an Approved Check Pilot.
