Job Description

  • The candidate must load and unload goods.
  • The candidate must operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
  • The candidate must oversee the vehicle’s condition and inspect the brakes, tires, lights, cold storage, and other equipment.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and overseeing all vehicle aspects.
  • The candidate will be responsible for receiving and relaying information to central dispatch.
  • The candidate will record cargo information, service hours, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
  • The candidate will be responsible for tarping and ensuring cargo safety and security.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • A candidate with experience is an asset.
  • The candidate must have Air Brakes Endorsement Certification and a Class 3/3F/DF Licence (trailer truck, vehicles with more than three axles).
  • The candidate must lift more than 45 kg (100 lbs).
  • The candidate must be well-organized.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
  • The candidate should be dependable.

  • The candidate must be able to work at heights.

  • The candidate should work in various locations when employees are scattered across different worksites.
  • The candidate should work in an urban area with a high population density.

Experience and specialization

Documentation knowledge

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about accident or incident reports, inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip) and trip reports.

Type of trucking and equipment

  • The trucking equipment is flatbed.

Transportation/travel experience

  • The candidate must have short-haul travel experience.

  • The candidate should undergo a thorough driving record check (abstract) and a drug test.
