Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for performing minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
- The candidate must operate machines to join sections of garments or other articles into finished products on a piece-work or production basis.
- The candidate must be able to operate sewing machines and sew by hand.
- The candidate must set in sleeves, pockets, collars, and other garment pieces.
- The candidate must use sewing guides and tension devices.
Job Requirements
- The candidate should be fluent in English language.
- There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
- The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
- The candidate should be accurate.
- The candidate should have good judgemental skills.
- The candidate must be well-organized.
- The candidate should be reliable.
Work site environment
- The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
Experience and specialization
Type of materials
- Materials include canvas, cotton or synthetic, knits, leather, satin, silk, and velvet.
Equipment and machinery experience
- The candidate should have experience using a variety of sewing machines, including a button holer or button sewer, a double needle machine, an embroidery or quilter, a hemmer or blindstitcher, an industrial sewing machine, leather stitching machines, an automatic seamer, and a single needle machine.
Sewing experience
- The candidate must have sewing experience in commercial, domestic, garment section work, and whole garment production.
