Job Description 

  • Candidates for this post are appointed to create, establish, and promote preventative measures to promote positive mental health and help promote positive healthy lifestyles. 
  • Candidates are also appointed to work with them to encourage full and healthy participation in school and the community. 
  • They’re also required to be familiar with current research about the issues facing students and families and effective strategies and practices to address these issues.
  • Candidates are appointed to provide services and referrals to students, families and staff services that encourage emotional and social health and well-being. 

Job requirement 

  • Candidates must have knowledge of child, family development and dedicated knowledge of current student wellness best practices to be eligible for this post. 
  • They must have a post secondary program in the social science field and 1 year and experience providing support programs for children and families. 
  • Candidates must have dedicated knowledge of the trans-generational impact of residential schooling to be eligible for this post. 
  • Candidates must have knowledge of cultural factors that impact learning and social issues experienced by students or families to be eligible for this post. 
  • They must attain the ability to interact in a non-judgemental, culturally sensitive and empathetic manner to be eligible for this post. 
  • Candidates must have written, verbal and listening, Skills and must have Interpersonal, conflict management and resolution skills to be eligible for this post. 
  • They must attain the ability to work independently and as part of a team to be eligible for this post. 

Work setting 

  • Candidates must attain the ability to work in a multicultural setting with young people, staff and parents.
