Job Description

  • The candidate must advise customers on indications, contraindications, side effects, drug interactions, and dosages.
  • The candidate must dispense prescribed pharmaceuticals to customers or other health care professionals.
  • The candidate will be responsible for ordering and maintaining a stock of pharmaceutical supplies.
  • The candidate must advise customers on the selection and use of non-prescription medications.
  • The candidate must check prescriptions for proper dosage.
  • The candidate will be responsible for compounding prescribed pharmaceutical products by calculating, measuring, and mixing the appropriate quantities of drugs and other ingredients.
  • The candidate will be required to maintain medication profiles of customers, including a registry of poisons, narcotics and controlled drugs.
  • The candidate will manage medicinal products’ storage, packaging, and distribution.
  • The candidate will supervise and coordinate the activities of other pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, pharmacy technicians, and other personnel.
  • The candidate will be responsible for controlling the quality of drug products during production to ensure that they meet potency, purity, uniformity, stability, and safety standards.
  • The candidate must evaluate drug product labelling, packaging, and advertising.
  • The candidate must be capable of leading/instructing individuals.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English or French.
  • The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree.
  • A candidate with experience is an asset.
  • The candidate must be capable of supervising 3 to 4 people and 5 to 10 people.
  • The candidate must have Certification for drug administration by injection and intranasal route, Pharmacy Examining Boards of Canada Certification
    and be licensed by provincial or territorial authorities.

  • The work site environment is clean.

Work setting

  • The employer should cover the candidate’s relocation costs, allowing the employer to contribute to the employee’s relocation costs incurred in moving closer to the company’s offices or other work locations as required.
  • The candidate should be willing to relocate and ready to work in a new city or a different city.
  • The candidate must work in a community or retail pharmacy.
