Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for accompanying patients on outdoor recreational activities.
  • The candidate must assist with the cleaning, sterilization, setup, and assembly of medical equipment.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing additional duties related to patient care and comfort.
  • The candidate must take patients’ blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
  • The candidate must serve meal trays and feed patients.
  • The candidate must weigh, lift, turn, and position patients.
  • The candidate will be responsible for delivering messages, reports, requisitions, and specimens between departments.
  • The candidate will be responsible for making beds and maintaining patient rooms.
  • The candidate must administer suppositories, colonic irrigations, and enemas.
  • The candidate will be responsible for maintaining inventory of supplies.
  • The candidate will be responsible for bathing, dressing, and grooming patients.
  • The candidate must transport patients between care facilities.
  • The candidate must transport patients in a wheelchair or stretcher.
  • The candidate must answer to call signals to determine the needs of patients.
  • The candidate must provide first aid in an emergency.
  • The candidate must perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years, or equivalent experience.
  • Candidate having experience is an asset.
  • The candidate must be able to handle weight up to 9 kg (20 lbs).
  • The candidate should be client focused.
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must be flexible.
  • The candidate must be capable of acting on their own initiative.
  • The candidate should have good judgemental skills.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate must have patience.

Work setting

  • The candidate must work for a home care and visiting care agency.
  • The candidate should work in a rural area; most people live or work on farms or ranches. Hamlets, villages, towns, and other small settlements are in or surrounded by rural areas.
  • The employee should be able to work in the employer’s/client’s home, have the ability to work at various site locations, and the specific period of progression is the annual review.
