Job Description

• The candidate will be responsible for analyzing the client’s eyeglasses or contact lenses, as well as measuring the client’s eye curvature, pupillary distance, and bridge width with optical measuring devices.
• The candidate must obtain specifications for eyeglasses and contact lenses from a prescription prepared by an ophthalmologist or optometrist.
• The candidate will be responsible for supervising or managing the activities of other opticians and student opticians.
• The candidate will be responsible for assisting clients in selecting eyeglasses.
• The candidate must advise on the proper use and care of contact lenses.
• The candidate will have to arrange for the grinding or polishing of lenses, or grind and polish lenses.
• The candidate will be responsible for cutting, edging, and fitting lenses into frames.
• The candidate must adjust finished eyeglasses to fit the client.

Job Requirements

• The candidate should be fluent in English language.
• The candidate must have College/CEGEP or equivalent experience in Opticianry/ophthalmic dispensing optician.
• The ideal candidate will have at least 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a related industry.
• The candidate must be licensed by the provincial or territorial authorities.
• The candidate should be accurate.
• The candidate should be client focused.
• The candidate should be dependable.
• The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
• The candidate should have good judgemental skills.
• The candidate should be reliable.
• The candidate should be a good team player.
