Salary: For auditors $ 82,366 to $102,335, for Senior Auditors $114 691 and for Senior OfOfficerTrade Compliance $81,060 to $93,387

The Intentionality of the Process:
- The selection process aims to create and maintain an inventory of applications that may be used to fill various employment opportunities (i.e. acting, assignment, deployment, indeterminate, secondment, specified period). Job Requirements:
- The candidates are required to fulfil the Bilingual – Imperative language requirements
- For Senior Officer positions the candidates are required to complete the two years of a post-secondary program.
- For the Auditor’s position, a candidate is required to have a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in accounting, business administration, commerce, finance, or in other specialization relevant to the duties of the position to be staffed
- The candidates are required to have recent and significant experience in decision-making in order to verify compliance with professional or legislative requirements or provide service or advice to the public or industry in a regulatory or law enforcement environment
- For the Auditor’s position, the candidates are required to have recent and significant experience in the performance of one or more of the functions such as conducting and managing audits, preparation of corporate or trust tax returns and administration of corporate accounting policies and conventions.

- The candidates have a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified in Financial Forensics (CPA is a prerequisite), Certified Fraud Examiner (no CPA required), Other certification related to the position being staffed and Completion of 24 months of qualifying CPA experience is an asset
- For the candidates working in the Officer Position, the candidates having one year of experience or more in reviewing and analysing accounting records and financial documents as part of the primary duties of a position and/or one year of experience or more in the in-depth use of MS Excel (formulas, pivot tables, functions, macros) is an asset
- For candidates having one year of experience or more making decisions in contentious or complex cases or files (examples: eligibility, audit, investigation or compliance) is an asset
- Candidates having one year of experience or more in the interpretation and application of the Customs Act in the commercial business line an asset
- For the candidates having one year of experience or more in the interpretation and application of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act is an asset
- Candidates having one year of experience or more in the interpretation and application of the Customs Act in the traveller’s business line an asset

- The candidates may be asked to possess a valid driver’s license or have personal mobility normally associated with the possession of a driver’s license and other operational requirements may be used as needs arise.
- Some of the work positions may require various terms and conditions of employment including Reliability Status, Enhanced Reliability Status, Secret clearance, Top Secret Clearance, Valid driver’s license or the personal mobility associated with possession of a driver’s license, willingness and ability to travel, with notice and willingness and ability to work overtime and work outside regular business hours as required, sometimes on short notice.

NOTE 2: The term Specialization refers to When education is required, candidates must always have a degree. NOTE 3: Recent and significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of those duties on a regular basis for a period of approximately three (3) years within the last five (5) years.
NOTE 4: Recent and significant experience is defined as depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of those duties on a regular basis for a certain period of time depending on the position, as Two (2) years within the five (5) last years for Auditors and Four (4) years within the seven (7) last years for senior auditors.
NOTE 5: Experience could have been acquired through employment or through an internship to obtain an accounting designation from a recognized professional association (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA)

Job Duties:
- Officers have to determine the customs value of imported goods in accordance with Sections 45 to 55 of the Customs Act. In order to do this, officers have to verify whether the value declared by the resident or non-resident importer is consistent with the commercial documents and/or with the financial records and/or any other financial documents provided by the importer. This type of verification generally requires an on-site visit.
- Officers have to determine the eligibility of companies as required by the program. Depending on the qualification, importers are granted a license number that authorizes them to import goods without paying duty under the condition that the goods will be exported. The verification of this program can be done by on-site visits, where the officers verify the company’s business tracking systems, as well as all the financial records to validate exports, Canadian sales and duties owed.
- Officers have to determine the origin and applicable tariff treatment for goods imported into and exported from Canada, according to the rules put in place by the free trade agreements in force. Officers also have to analyze production processes and costs attached to the manufacture of goods. Having accounting knowledge can be considered as an asset. This verification can be sometimes done in onsite visits, both in Canada and abroad. Officers should be able to use the customs tariff and the specific rules of origin of each free-trade agreement.
- Officers need to verify, in accordance with section 32.2 (1) of the Customs Act, the tariff classification declared by importers for imported goods into Canada. In addition, they should also be able to render tariff classification decisions to importing companies upon request. The Customs Tariff is known to be the main tool for carrying out these decisions.
- The officers should be able to answer complex Level 2 questions from internal and external clients on a variety of CBSA programs, mainly Trade operations related and are assigned other Trade operations programs delivery tasks.
