Job Description

  • The candidate will be required to sort metal sheets and parts, scrap metal and other materials
  • The candidate will be required to load and unload vehicles using hand truck or dolly
  • The candidate will be expected to clean machines and the immediate work area.
  • The candidate will be required to read and interpret work orders.
  • The candidate will be required to transport raw materials and finished metal products manually or using hoists or other devices.
  • The candidate will be expected to perform other labouring and fundamental tasks.
  • The candidate will be required to assist machine operators, assemblers, and other workers.
  • The candidate will be required to keep track of completion times and gather product portions.
  • The candidate will be responsible for monitoring machines for jammed materials or defective products.
  • The candidate will be required to check and weigh materials and products.
  • The candidate will be required to measure and mark out cutting and bending lines.
  • Before beginning any cutting work, the candidate must double-check the design specifications.
  • The candidate must ensure that the items are undamaged.
  • The candidate must handle inventory with care and attention to detail.
  • The candidate will be expected to conduct quality checks on finished products.
  • The candidate will be required to operate metal cleaning equipment such as wheelabrators, deburrers and shotblasters to remove excess welds, rust, scale and other material from surfaces of metal parts, castings and other metal products
  • The candidate will be required to polish metal products to mirror finish
  • The candidate will be required to immerse metal products in cleaning solutions
  • The candidate will be required to assist structural steel and platework fitters, sheet metal workers, metalworking machine operators or other metal workers
  • The candidate will be responsible for grinding and finishing completed products.
  • The candidate will be required to cut, grind or chip excess metal from metal products using hand tools.
  • The candidate will be required to follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks
  • The candidate will be required to align parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instrument.
  • The candidate will be required to clean and smoothes welds by filing, chiselling and grinding.
  • The candidate will be required to report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions.
  • The candidate will be required to perform other duties as assigned.
  • The candidate must be skilled with metal fabrication tools such as shears, rollers, flame cutters, and drill presses.
  • The candidate will be required to notify supervisor of quality and tolerance issues.
  • The candidate will be required to check parts using approved tools from quality control.
  • The candidate will be required to report faulty packaging or machine problems to the appropriate managers.
  • The candidate will be expected to adhere to the company’s safety policies and procedures, as well as to encourage other associates to do the same.
