Job description
- Candidates are responsible for administering the corporate operating and capital budget process, debt and reserve fund management, and the coordination of regular, transparent reporting on financial matters to various Committees and City Council.
- They will make recommendations with respect to corporate budget guidelines, ensure adherence to guidelines and financial policies approved by Council, and prepare the corporate budget document for presentation to the Estimates Committee.
Job requirement
- Candidates must possess a four (4) year University degree in Business, Finance or related discipline
- They must hold a Chartered Public Accountant (CPA) designation
- They must have proven experience coordinating municipal operating and multi-year capital budgets for presentation to senior staff and City Council
- They must have proven experience tracking and reporting forecasted budget variances, in addition to forecasting reserve and debt levels
- They must have experience supervising employees in a unionized environment.
Work setting
- Candidates must have strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple and changing demands and priorities
- They must have strong written and verbal presentation skills are essential
- They must have experience working with computer applications including JDEdwards, Questica, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
