Job Description

  • The candidate must trim trees to achieve the desired pruning objective, such as crown cleaning, thinning, raising, reduction, restoration, espalier pruning, and vista pruning.
  • The candidate must manage landscaping projects.
  • The candidate must prepare conceptual designs.
  • The candidate must survey and evaluate designated sites.
  • The candidate must water and care for plants, lawns, and/or gardens.
  • The candidate must apply fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, pesticides, and other lawn care products.
  • The candidate must apply various treatments such as pruning, spraying, repairing damaged areas and injecting with treatment solutions.
  • The candidate must plan and coordinate the growth and use of plants for landscaping, ornamental purposes, and other purposes.
  • The candidate must plant and maintain private and public lawns and gardens.
  • The candidate must plant and move trees.
  • The candidate must assist in pruning trees, shrubs, and plants.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate or diploma in other trades.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must have Landscape Gardener Trade Certification, Landscape Horticulturist Red Seal Certificate, and a Chemical Application Certificate or Licence.
  • The candidate should be client focused.
  • The candidate should be reliable.

Work site environment

  • The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
  • The candidate must work in all weather conditions.

Work setting

  • The candidate must work in a setting that provides horticulture and/or gardening services.

Experience and specialization

Type of product

  • The type of product is truck.

Landscaping experience

  • The candidate must have landscaping experience in residential projects and restoration and preservation projects.

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have experience operating hand tools.

Construction specialization

  • The candidate must be skilled in the construction of rock gardens.

Area of specialization

  • The candidate must specialize in plant knowledge and identification as well as horticulture.

  • The candidate’s driving record should be thoroughly checked (abstract).

  • The candidate must have their own vehicle.
  • The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.
