Hydrogeologist Lead

Job Description 

  • Candidates working in this post are appointed to provide technical support in the review of water balance assessments, erosion and flood protection, and low-impact development measures. 
  • They’re also appointed to provide technical input in the review of Environmental Assessment Studies, City capital projects, and MECP Environmental Compliance Approvals working at this post. 
  • Candidates are also appointed to provide technical support and review of hydrologic and hydraulic models and flood hazard mapping.
  • They’re required to support development applications related to proposed dewatering discharges or other dewatering concerns that may have an impact on the City infrastructure system.
  • Candidates working in this post are appointed to prepare Council or Committee reports for special projects related to hydrogeology and water resource engineering.
  • They’re appointed at this post to assist the manager in the preparation of Terms of Reference, Request for Proposal and contract awards for special projects.
  • Candidates will also have to represent the City on intergovernmental, Regional, or Provincial initiatives, programs or studies.

Job requirement 

  • Candidates must have a university degree in geology, environmental science, earth science, geography, civil engineering, and geological engineering to be eligible for this post.
  • They must have a minimum of 5 years of proven and progressive experience in the field of hydrogeology with familiarity with hydrology and storm drainage principles.
  • They must have membership in the Association of Geoscientists of Ontario, or Professional Engineers of Ontario or a suitable equivalent to be eligible for this post. 
  • They must be certified professional geoscientists, Professional Engineer, or suitable equivalents.
  • Candidates must attain exceptional organizational, interpersonal, negotiation, oral and written communication skills to be eligible for this post.
