Kalwood Farms, which operates an 85-acre orchard on the shores of Kalamalka Lake, has been producing high-quality cherries and apples for over 50 years. We want to be known for producing some of the best cherries on the market anywhere in the world. This high standard is expected of our team. The candidate who got selected will be required to start work as soon as possible. The vacancies refer to Full time or Seasonal employment. The shift timings include Day, Weekend, Overtime, Early Morning and Morning 03:00 to 12:00

Job Description

The candidate will be required to pick row and orchard crops
The candidate would be responsible for selecting and picking of produce according to size and ripeness and disregard rotting and over ripped produce.
The candidate would be responsible for grading, sorting and packing of produce into containers.
All packing and stacking duties will be performed in the field and on the farm.
The candidate must use hands and arms to handle product.
The candidate will be in charge of grasps, twists, and pulls fruit, snips stems, and shakes trees and vines to separate crop from plant, and places fruit into bags, buckets, or trays, taking care not to damage plant fruit.
The candidate will be required to stand on ladders or elevated platforms, stoop over plants, or crawl along rows to reach fruit.
When eliminating foreign matter such as twigs and grasses, the candidate will be required to pour fruit through screens.
The candidate will be required to shake ripe fruit from branches using a hand-held vibrating device held against the branches of bushes.
The candidate will be responsible for loading containers onto trucks or waggons or dumping fruit from containers onto conveyors.
The candidate will be required to remove ladders, debris, boxes, and discarded fruit from fields bogs to clean growing areas.
The candidate will be needed to use a rake to collect fallen nuts into heaps.
The candidate will be expected to keep work areas clean, orderly, and well-organized.
The candidate will be required to ensure that the fruit you pick has been weighed and recorded
The candidate will be required to obtain cartons and crates depending on the type of fruit that needs to be packed.
The candidate must select each item and inspect it for conformance.
The candidate will be expected to label fruits in accordance with the instructions supplied.
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the stock facilities are kept in accordance with hygiene standards, as well as regulating the temperature, heating, and air conditioning of storage facilities.
When picking, the candidate will be required to take the necessary health and safety precautions, such as maintaining proper posture, operating tools and machinery safely, and wearing appropriate clothing and weather protection.
The candidate must examine the quality of the product and get it ready for the market.
The candidate will be required to removes dry leaf debris from crop using both hands.

The candidate should be fluent in English
There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma .
Previous experience in the farming industry is not mandatory.
Knowledge of farming best practices would be an added advantage.
The candidate should be a good team player with enough interpersonal and judge-mental skills.
The candidate must be physically fit.
The candidate must be able to work long hours on farm.
The candidate must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
The candidate should be punctual.
The candidate should be organized and flexible in nature.

The candidate should be able to handle weight up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs)
