Job Description
- Candidates appointed to maintain databases for fire weather and fire behaviour and maintenance of specialized equipment.
- They’re appointed to assist with maintaining GIS databases and creating mapping products.
- They’re also appointed to ensure the development of fuel management plans and environmental assessments in support of fire management in the field unit.
- Candidates are also appointed to fill field unit fire duty officer roles on a rotating basis.
Job requirement
- Candidates must attain a minimum completion of two years of a post-secondary program related to environmental and natural sciences.
- They must have completed a B.Sc. or higher related to environmental and/or natural sciences.
- Candidates must have successful completion of the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre’s (CIFFC) Advanced Wildland Fire Behaviour course.
- Candidates must acquire copies of their current certification will be required at the time of the interview to be eligible for this post.
- They must attain dedicated experience travelling or working in the field under various climatic conditions.
- Candidates must acquire experience participating in field research or active management projects.
- They must attain dedicated knowledge of fire management activities including fire suppression, prescribed fire and fuel management projects.
Work setting
- Ability to carry out data manipulation requirements as directed.
- Ability to analyze spatial and non-spatial data using various media and software.
- They must attain a valid class 5 driving license to be eligible for this post.
