Job Description

  • The candidate must clean the crops.
  • The candidate will be responsible for dividing freshly harvested produce into marketable and non-marketable lots.
  • The candidate must clean the work area.
  • The candidate must load, unload, and transfer crates, supplies, farm produce, livestock, and poultry.
  • The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
  • The candidate must assess the product’s quality and market readiness.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • A candidate with experience is an asset.
  • The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • The candidate must be flexible.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should prioritize values and ethics.

Work site environment

  • Farm operations include dry pea and bean farming, oilseed farming (excluding soybeans), and other grain farming.
  • The candidate will be required to work in confined spaces.
  • The candidate must be able to work at heights.
  • The candidate must be willing to work in hazardous conditions.
  • The candidate must be able to work in dusty, hot, and dirty conditions.
  • The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration despite these conditions.
  • The candidate must be able to work in all weather conditions.

Experience and specialization

Type of crops

  • Crops include artisanal crops, seed corn, soybeans, sweet corn, and canola.

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have experience operating a farm truck, forklift, and loader, as well as using welding equipment and hand tools.

Automated systems experience

  • The candidate must have experience with bulk grain or feed handling systems (automated) and automated environmental control equipment.

  • The candidate must undergo a criminal record check.

  • The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.
  • The candidate must have their transportation.
