Job Description 

  • Candidates working in this post are appointed to conduct full and thorough investigations of offences. 
  • They’re also appointed to prepare for and attend court, hearings, or inquiries to give evidence. 
  • Candidates working in this post are appointed to provide support immediately after an incident can victimize, traumatize, or create concern for a neighbourhood and its residents. 
  • They’re also appointed to be proactive and use information, evidence, and insights from neighbourhood partners to identify issues and co-develop solutions, including referrals to appropriate community resources. 
  • Candidates are appointed to protect life and property and preserve the peace. 

Job requirement 

  • Candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada. 
  • Candidates must be physically and mentally able to perform the duties of the position, having regard for their safety, and the safety of others. 
  • Candidates must have completed police constable recruit training at the Ontario Police College, R.C.M.P. Depot, or other accredited facility. 
  • They must have completed the police constable probationary period at a recognized Canadian police service.
  • Candidates must have good moral character and habits, meaning that they are individuals that other people would look upon as being trustworthy and having integrity. 
  • They must not have been convicted of a criminal offence for which a pardon has not been granted. 
  • Candidates must have completed post-secondary education to be eligible for this post. 
  • They must have demonstrated knowledge, understanding and appreciation for equity, human rights, and the importance of diversity and inclusion in all communities. 
  • Candidates must have a dedicated understanding of local community safety and justice-related issues to be eligible for this post. 
  • They must have strong interpersonal relationships and problem-solving skills to be eligible for this post.

  • They must attain superb ability to work under pressure and make decisions in complex and potentially dangerous and stressful conditions.
