Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
  • The candidate must lead activities such as telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
  • The candidate must encourage children to express their creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
  • The candidate must guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
  • The candidate must observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural issues and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
  • The candidate must attend staff meetings to discuss the progress and problems of the children.
  • The candidate must develop and maintain collaborative relationships with coworkers and community service providers who work with children.
  • The candidate must plan and maintain an environment that protects children’s health, safety, and well-being.
  • The candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating activities for school-aged children inย child-careย programs before and after regular school hours.
  • The candidate must supervise and coordinate the activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must be able to supervise 1 to 2 people.
  • The candidate must have Child development assistant (ECE level 1) Certification, Child development worker (ECE level 2) Certification, Emergency child care first aid and CPR Certification, Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate.
  • The candidate must be punctual.
  • The candidate should be dependable.
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate should be flexible.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
  • The candidate should give importance to values and ethics.
  • The candidate must be creative.

Work setting

  • The candidate should work in a child care centre, day nursery, or crรจches, probably the most formal childcare setting.
  • The candidate’s relocation costs should be covered by the employer, allowing the employer to contribute to the employee’s relocation costs incurred in moving closer to the company’s offices or other work locations as required.
  • The candidate should work in a daycare centre or nursery school; daycare centres also offer educational and recreational activities to help develop cognitive skills in children.
