Job description
- The candidate will be required to have knowledge of Day Nurseries Act.
- The candidate will be required to have knowledge of licensing regulations.
- The candidate will be required to establish guidelines for behavior.
- The candidate would be responsible for developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
- The candidate will be required to lead activities by telling or reading stories.
- The candidate will be required to lead activities by teaching songs.
- The candidate will be required to lead activities by taking children to local points of interest.
- The candidate will be required to guide and assist children in the development of proper eating,
- The candidate will be required to guide and assist children in the development of dressing habits.
- The candidate will be required to guide and assist children in the development of toilet habits.
- The candidate would be responsible for providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
- The candidate will be required to establish collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
- The candidate will be required to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
- The candidate will be required to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
- The candidate would be responsible for assessing the abilities, interests and needs of children.
- The candidate would be responsible for imparting knowledge to children through fun and play.
- The candidate will be required to supervise maintain daycare equipment.
- The candidate would be responsible for participating research programs concerned with improvements in early childhood teaching methods, as appropriate.
- The candidate will be required to interacts with parents and community groups; maintains open and cooperative communication with parents and families, encouraging their involvement in the program and supporting the child’s family relationships.
- The candidate will be required to plans and prepares classroom setting; oversees safety and educational programs; supervises children in the classroom; provides a supportive environment in which children can learn and practice appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviors.
Job Requirements
- The candidate should be fluent in English
- The candidate should have a College degree.
- In absence of a college degree the candidate should have a CEGEP.
- In absence of both, the candidate should have a non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
- The candidate should have a Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate.
- Experience of the candidate in the concerned field will be given preference.
- The candidate should have a thorough Criminal record check.
- The candidate should have their Immunization records.
- The candidate should have experience with Special Needs Children.
- The candidate should have experience with Children with an intellectual disability.
- The candidate should have experience with Children with behavioral issues.
- The candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
- The candidate should be able to supervise staff.
- The work will involve a combination of sitting, standing and walking which the candidate should be comfortable with.
- The work will be physically demanding which the candidate should be comfortable with.
