Lockerby Taxi has a 24 hour state of the art computerized dispatch service, with a repair service centre located at our head office in Sudbury’s South End. At Lockerby Transportation, we pride ourselves on moving you and your parcels reliably and responsibly. The candidate who got selected will be required to start work as soon as possible. The vacancies refer to Permanent employment or Full time. The shift timing includes Evening, Night, Weekend and Early Morning.

Job Description

  • The candidate should drive taxicabs, limousines, company cars, or privately-owned vehicles to transport passengers.
  • The candidate will be required to assist clients or guests with special needs.
  • The candidate will be required to provide pick up and delivery services on request.
  • The candidate will be required to record transactions
  • The candidate will be required to operate two-way radios
  • The candidate would be responsible for collecting fare
  • The candidate will be expected to help passengers with their luggage and to board vehicles.
  • The candidate will be responsible for picking up passengers and driving them to their destinations.
  • The candidate must ensure that each journey is both safe and enjoyable.
  • The candidate would be in charge of starting and stopping the taximeter at the appropriate times.
  • The candidate would be responsible for selecting the fastest route to the client’s destination, unless otherwise requested.
  • The candidate would be in charge of informing customers about services and attractions that might be of interest to them.
  • The candidate would be in charge of adhering to traffic laws pay all necessary levies.
  • The candidate would be in charge of ensuring the safety of the clients throughout the journey.
  • The candidate would be in charge of processing cash payments and ensuring that there is always enough change on hand.
  • The candidate would be in charge of ensuring that the vehicle is clean and in good working order.
  • The candidate would be in charge of determining the correct fare and returning the correct change.
  • The candidate will be required to ask for directions or use GPS to determine directions.
  • The candidate must maintain regular communication with the dispatcher prior to, during, and after each trip.
  • While driving, the candidate must avoid answering unnecessary and lengthy calls.
  • The candidate will be required to turn off the taximeter as soon as the taxi comes to a stop and collect the fare from the passenger.
  • The candidate must reset the taximeter immediately after each run or before the next run.
  • The candidate must never drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs that may impair driving.
  • The candidates will be required to follow safety regulations and state laws when operating a vehicle, as well as ensure that passengers follow applicable safety regulations.
  • Candidates must ensure that vehicle equipment such as brakes, lights, windshield wipers, and so on are properly maintained and operating.
  • The candidates must report vehicle problems to dispatchers or company mechanics.
  • Candidates will be required to perform routine vehicle maintenance such as adding gasoline, oil, and water and checking tyre pressure, as well as ensure more specialised maintenance and repairs are performed.

  • The candidate should be fluent in English or French Language
  • The candidate should have minimum qualification of Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
  • The ideal candidate should have 5 or more years of working experience in similar industry.
  • The candidate must have Driver’s Licence

  • The candidate should be familiar with basic first aid procedures.
  • The candidate should have excellent Hand-eye coordination.
  • The candidate must be able to complete the assigned route on time.
  • The candidate should always look for ways to improve and promote quality, and should be able to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
  • The candidate should be well-versed in basic vehicle inspection and maintenance, such as checking tyre pressure and oil and water levels.
  • The candidate must travel frequently or constantly

  • The candidate should have valid driver’s licence
