Community Service Worker
The City of Edmonton has released a notification in which they’re inviting candidates for the post of Community Service Worker. They must identify gaps in service and work with a diverse group of community members to develop and implement effective strategies. They must work collaboratively with other EPS Units along with other CTSS Coordinators to ensure the community receives a high level of service. They must build and strengthen relationships to earn legitimacy and increased community awareness of the victim supports offered by CTSS.

Job description
- Candidates must provide support and referral for victims of crime and other trauma.
- They should conduct client centred needs assessments, case conferences and case management.
- They must work collaboratively with CTSS Volunteer Advocates to provide support to victims of crime.
- They must prepare statistical reports, drafts/update policy, report on program outputs and other related duties as required.
- They must develop and maintain strong stakeholder partnerships.
Job requirement
- Candidates must have a University graduation in Social Sciences from a recognized university or a two (2) year diploma from a community college or technical institute in social services.
- Candidates should have a degree or diploma in Social Work.
- They must have working knowledge of the Canadian Criminal Justice System, how it relates to victim services and a demonstrated understanding of the “victim experience” and the Victims Bill of Rights.
Work setting
- Candidates must have experience in providing trauma related support to children and their families.
- They must have experience in engaging and collaborating with other community partners who provide front line support to children who have experienced trauma.
- They must have experience in providing client support immediately following a traumatic event.
