Job Description

  • The candidate must operate buses, school buses, or streetcars to transport passengers.
  • The candidate must report delays, mechanical problems, and accidents.
  • The candidate will be responsible for loading and unloading the vehicles.
  • The candidate must deal with the public.
  • The candidate must complete logbooks and reports.
  • The candidate must deal with difficult passengers and resolve conflicts.
  • The candidate must communicate with other drivers, dispatchers, and passengers using two-way radio systems.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, as well as overseeing all aspects of the vehicle.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must have Air Brakes Endorsement Certification, a Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks), a Class 2/2F/C Licence (buses with more than passengers), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement Certification, and a Driver’s Licence (Class 2 or B or C)).
  • The candidate must be able to handle weight up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • The candidate should be client focused.
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate should be organized and flexible in nature.
  • The candidate should have good judgemental skills.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Experience and specialization

Type of experience

  • The candidate must have previous experience as a tour and charter bus driver, as well as a bus driver.

Transportation/travel experience

  • The candidate must have travel experience in local, and provincial/territorial locations.

Additional information

Security and safety

  • The candidate must be bondable.
  • The candidate should undergo a thorough criminal record check, driving record check (abstract) and and drug test.

  • The candidate must have a driver’s abstract.
  • The candidate’s travel expenses will be covered by the employer.
  • The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.
  • Employer will provide the vehicle.
  • The candidate must be willing to travel.
