Job Description

  • The candidate must cut, shape, and join timber pieces or assemble pre-cut timber pieces to make wooden boats.
  • The candidate will be responsible for recording information about the products inspected.
  • The candidate must assemble prefabricated parts and sections of fiberglass, metal, or other materials to form boats.
  • The candidate must change machinery attachments.
  • The candidate will be responsible for cleaning the work area.
  • The candidate will be responsible for caulking decks and hulls.
  • The candidate must monitor the machine during operation.
  • The candidate must install trims, rudders, seats, engine mounts, and other accessories.
  • The candidate will be responsible for repairing boats.
  • The candidate will be responsible for inspecting assembled boats for defects and conformance to quality standards.
  • The candidate will be responsible for marking defects that need to be repaired.
  • The candidate must apply seals or tags to approved products.
  • The candidate must inspect manufactured items for defects and conformance to specifications.
  • The candidate must complete reports on product inspection.
  • The candidate will be responsible for loading, feeding, and placing materials into the machine.
  • The candidate will be responsible for operating a machine to fabricate parts and products.
  • The candidate must return defective products for repair or recycling.
  • The candidate must sand, trim, grind, or clean products into final form using hand tools.
  • The candidate must screw, clip, glue, bond, weld, or otherwise assemble parts and components to form final products.
  • The candidate must cut, shape, and fit materials to form parts and components.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years, or equivalent experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must be able to handle weight up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • The candidate should be organized and flexible in nature.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Work site environment

  • The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
  • The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.
  • The candidate must be able to work in dusty conditions.
  • The candidate will be required to work in confined spaces.
