Job Description
- People who apply for this post are required to ensure timely and comprehensive responses are made to all substantive, procedural and policy requirements in the criminal litigation process working at this post.
- They’re also appointed at this post to develop and maintain technical skills to be able to communicate and work effectively with computer technology and databases made available to professional staff applied for this post.
- People who are appointed to this post are required to perform special justice-related projects and involvement in community programmes as requested.
- They’re appointed at this post to assist other counsel with prosecutions, research, etc working at this post.
- Candidates working at this post are required to provide legal support and advice to Justice Sector Partners, such as Police, Victim Witness, Probation and Parole working at this post.
Job requirement
- They must have a membership in good standing as a lawyer with the Law Society of Ontario to be eligible for this post.
- Applicants must have dedicated experience in prosecutions of a serious and complex nature, including jury trials and homicides.
- They must have dedicated knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, criminal law procedures, rules of evidence and case law to be considered as an asset for this post.
- They must have dedicated knowledge of the role and function of a prosecutor in the criminal justice system in Ontario working in this post.
- Applicants applying for this post must acquire dedicated experience in case management duties to support the efficient prosecution of criminal matters to be considered as an asset for this post.
