Job Description

  • The candidate will be in charge of calving.
  • The candidate will be responsible for cattle training.
  • The candidate will be required to feed inventory.
  • The candidate will be in charge of branding Livestock.
  • The candidate will be in charge of weaning.
  • The candidate will be in charge of weeding.
  • The candidate will be responsible for fertilising and spraying crops.
  • The candidate will be expected to feed and care for animals.
  • The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
  • The candidate will have to milk cows.
  • The candidate must clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens.
  • The candidate will be expected to carry out general farm duties.
  • The candidate must keep track of quality control and production records.
  • The candidate must carry out a pasture or pen breeding programme.
  • The candidate must keep livestock performance records.
  • The candidate must perform agricultural crop services such as plowing, irrigating, cultivating, spraying, and harvesting.
  • The candidate must ensure that farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed.

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • Candidate having experience is an asset.

Work site environment

  • Farm operations include beef cattle ranching and farming, including feedlots, hay farming, livestock combination farming, and livestock farming.
  • The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
  • The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.
  • The candidate must be able to work in dusty, hot, and cold/refrigerated conditions.

Work setting

  • Accommodation facilities are available to the candidate.
  • The candidate must be willing to work in rural and remote areas.
  • The candidate’s relocation expenses will not be covered by the employer.
  • The candidate must work in the dairy industry.

Experience and specialization

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have prior experience operating a farm truck, fertiliser applicator, forage equipment, haying equipment, a loader, a manure spreader, planting equipment, a sprayer or duster, a swather, tillage equipment, a tractor, and harvesters.

Automated systems experience

  • The candidate must be familiar with the automated milking system, manure handling and storage, feeding and watering system, and storage and silage system.

Area of specialization

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about cattle breeding, dairy cattle, beef cattle, and agricultural livestock service.
