Job Description

  • The candidate will disinfect pens, barns, and poultry houses.
  • The candidate must be able to handle animals.
  • The candidate must mark livestock to prove ownership.
  • The candidate will be responsible for monitoring the calving process.
  • The candidate must monitor animal health.
  • The candidate must organize tasks to accomplish the work.
  • The candidate must perform animal grooming activities.
  • The candidate must perform livestock feeding.
  • The candidate must prepare a clean, dry area for calving cows.
  • The candidate will be responsible for tracking and reporting on the current feed inventory.
  • The candidate will be responsible for feeding and tending animals.
  • The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
  • The candidate must ensure that farm safety and biosecurity procedures are followed.
  • The candidate must perform general farm duties.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate should be organized and flexible.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate must be a quick learner.

Work site environment

  • Farm operations include beef cattle ranching and farming, feedlots, and livestock farming.
  • The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.

Work setting

  • The candidate should work in rural areas where most people live or work on farms or ranches. Rural areas include hamlets, villages, towns, and other small settlements.
  • The candidate should work in a staff accommodation that offers live-in accommodation when an employer provides housing for its employees.
  • The employer should cover the candidate’s relocation costs. However, the employer can also contribute to the employee’s relocation costs by requiring the employee to move closer to the company’s offices or other work locations.
  • The candidate should be willing to relocate and ready to work in a new or different city.

  • The candidate must have experience operating feeding and watering systems, tractors, farm trucks, and hand tools.
