Job Description
- People applying for this post are required to plan, develop, implement and maintain the technical components of the Wildlife Research and Monitoring Section program and assist in administrative and health and safety functions of related field operations working at this post.
Job requirement
- Candidates applying for this post are required to have a valid class ‘G’ driver’s licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario, to be eligible for this post.
- They must be willing to be vaccinated for rabies and maintain an adequate antibody titre annually to get preferred for this post.
- They must have expertise with the capture and handling of live animals and the use of live traps, use of microscopes, autopsy equipment, general lab practices and use of field equipment to collect data and process specimens for biological data and sample collection to be preferred for this post.
- They must have demonstrated experience working safely in the lab and in remote field settings, including the use of multiple means of transportation to be considered as an asset for this post.
Work setting
- Applicants applying for this post must possess basic knowledge in mammalian anatomy, wildlife disease and histology to safely collect and handle biological material both in the field and the laboratory.
- Candidates applying for this post must have prior experience handling large mammals and experience with the chemical immobilization of wildlife to be considered an asset for this post.
