Job Description

  • The candidate must examine welds to ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications.
  • The candidate must be able to operate either manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
  • The candidate must be able to operate brakes, shears, and other metal shaping, straightening, and bending machines.
  • The candidate must be capable of fitting, brazing, and torch-straightening metal.
  • The candidate must be able to use oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air) (AOC).
  • The candidate must determine the weldability of materials.
  • The candidate must be able to use hoisting and lifting equipment.
  • The candidate must be able to operate previously set-up welding machines in order to fabricate or repair metal parts and products.
  • The candidate must operate previously set-up brazing or soldering machines to bond metal or fill holes, indentations, and seams in metal.
  • The candidate will be responsible for maintaining and performing minor repairs on welding, brazing, and soldering equipment.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English or French languages.
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must be able to handle weight up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • The candidate must be well-organized.
  • The candidate must be hardworking.

Work site environment

  • The candidate will be required to work in confined spaces.
  • The candidate must be able to work in hot conditions.
  • The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.

Experience and specialization

Type of materials

  • Materials include aluminum alloys, composite materials, copper and copper alloys, non-metallic materials, stainless steel, steel, iron, heavy metals, titanium, and special alloys.

Welding techniques

  • Welding techniques include oxy-acetylene welding (OAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux core arc welding (FCAW), plasma arc welding (PAW), and submerged arc welding (SAW).

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have experience with arc welding machine, brazing machine, butt or seam resistance welding machine, gas welding machine, soldering machine, and spot welding machine.

  • The candidate should be required to handle heavy loads as part of routine work.
