Job Description
- The candidate must drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
- The candidate must load and unload goods.
- The candidate must obtain special permits and other documents required for international cargo transport.
- The candidate must operate and drive straight or articulated trucks in order to transport goods and materials.
- The candidate must inspect the vehicle’s condition, including the brakes, tires, lights, and other essential components.
- The candidate must pay for and receive payments for goods.
- The candidate must be able to perform emergency roadside repairs.
- The candidate will be responsible for performing pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections, as well as overseeing all aspects of the vehicle.
- The candidate will be responsible for recording cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
- The candidate will be responsible for tarping and ensuring the safety and security of cargo.
Job Requirements
- The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
- The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
- A candidate with experience is an asset.
- The candidate must hold a Class 1/1F/A Licence (for semi-trailer trucks) and a valid Driver’s License (Class 1 or A).
- The candidate should be organized and flexible.
- The candidate should be reliable.
- The candidate should be a good team player.
Work setting
- The candidate should be able to work in various locations when employees are scattered across different worksites.
Experience and specialization
Documentation knowledge
- The candidate must be knowledgeable about accident or incident reports, driver logbooks, inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip), maintenance and repair reports and trip reports.
Communication systems experience
- The candidate will be responsible for operating GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigational equipment.
Transportation/travel experience
- The candidate has experience with transportation and travel at both the national and provincial/territorial levels.
- The candidate must have experience with long-haul travel.

- The candidate must have a valid passport.
- The candidate holds a basic security clearance and is subject to a driving record check (abstract).
