Job Description
- To minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions, the candidate must plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices.
- The candidate must have mountain driving experience.
- The candidate must maintain professionalism in customer service.
- The candidate must load and unload goods.
- The candidate must operate and drive straight or articulated trucks in order to transport goods and materials.
- The candidate must oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect the brakes, tires, lights, cold storage, and other equipment.
- The candidate must perform brake adjustments.
- The candidate will perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and oversee all vehicle aspects.
- The candidate will be responsible for recording cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
Job Requirements
- The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
- The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
- The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
- The candidate must have an AZ class license, Air Brake (Z) Endorsement Certification, Commercial Vehicle Operators Registration (CVOR) Certificate, Defensive Driving Course Certificate, and Professional Driver Improvement Certificate.
- The candidate must lift more than 45 kg (100 lbs).
- The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
- The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
- The candidate should be organized and flexible in nature.
- The candidate should have good judgmental skills.
- The candidate should be reliable.

Experience and specialization
Documentation knowledge
- The candidate must be knowledgeable about bill of lading, driver logbooks, inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip), trans-border documentation and trip reports.
Type of trucking and equipment
- Trucking and equipment types include dry bulk, logging, highway, refrigeration, and tractor-trailer.
Communication systems experience
- The candidate must be familiar with Citizens Band (CB) radio.
- The candidate will operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigational equipment.
Transportation/travel experience
- The candidate must have transportation and travel experience at international, local, national, provincial/territorial, and regional levels.
- The candidate must have both long-haul and short-haul travel experience.
Type of industry experience
- The candidate must have prior experience in the trucking industry.
Area of specialization
- The candidate must specialize in truck driving.

Security and safety
- The candidate must have a valid passport.
- The candidate should undergo a thorough criminal background check, driving record check (abstract), and drug test.
