The selected candidate for this position will be expected to start work promptly. The available positions are for Seasonal employment or Full time job. The shift times for this position are Day, Evening, Early Morning and Morning.

Job Description

  • The candidate must load and unload goods.
  • The candidate must be able to perform emergency roadside repairs.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, as well as overseeing all vehicle aspects.
  • The candidate must perform preventive maintenance.
  • The candidate will be responsible for tarping and ensuring cargo safety and security.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 3 to 5 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must have Air Brakes Endorsement Certification, a Driver’s License (Class 1 or A), a First Aid Certificate, and Skid Control Training Certification.
  • The candidate must be able to handle weight up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The candidate should be organized and flexible in nature.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
  • The candidate must be hardworking.
  • The candidate must have patience.

  • The candidate must be able to work in dusty conditions.

Experience and specialization

Documentation knowledge

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about accident or incident reports, bill of lading, driver logbooks, inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip), maintenance and repair reports and trip reports.

Type of trucking and equipment

  • Trucking and equipment types include dump truck, flatbed and tractor-trailer.

Communication systems experience

  • The candidate must be familiar with Citizens band (CB) radio and Trip recorder (on-board computer).

Transportation/travel experience

  • The candidate must have transportation and travel experience at provincial/territorial, and regional levels.
  • The candidate must have short-haul travel experience.

Security and safety

  • The candidate should be subjected to a thorough driver’s licence validity check, driving record check (abstract), drug test and medical examination.

  • The candidate must be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
  • The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.
