Job Description

  • The candidate must train technicians and students.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supervising technical and support personnel.
  • The candidate will be expected to administer tests and examinations as well as observe patients in order to diagnose and evaluate disorders of speech, voice, resonance, language, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing.
  • The candidate will be required to develop, plan, and implement remedial programmes to correct speech, voice, language, resonance, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing disorders.
  • The candidate will be expected to develop group and personalised care plans while working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • The candidate will be expected to hire and train employees.
  • The candidate will be expected to advise and educate patients and families about communication and swallowing disorders.
  • The candidate will be expected to develop personalised care plans while working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • The candidate must plan and implement habilitation/rehabilitation programmes.
  • The candidate will be expected to provide information to patients and families about the nature, extent, impact, and implications of hearing loss, as well as treatment options.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a Master’s degree.
  • Candidate having experience is an asset.
  • The candidate must be able to supervise 1 to 2 people.
  • The candidate must be certified by the Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists and licenced by provincial or territorial authorities.
  • The candidate should be accurate.

Work setting

  • The candidate will be expected to care for people who have fluency disorders, language disorders, articulation disorders, voice disorders, speech-language disorders, and hearing-impaired voice problems.
  • The candidate will be required to work in a hospital/medical facility or clinic, a public or community health centre, and a school or educational institution/establishment.
  • The candidate will be required to work in the employer’s or client’s home.
  • The candidate’s relocation expenses will be covered by the employer.
  • The candidate must be willing to relocate to the specified location.

Experience and specialization

Computer and technology knowledge

  • The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Word.

Communication systems experience

  • The candidate must have prior experience with communication systems, including total communication, cued speech auditory, oral techniques, and alternate or augmentative communication.
