Job Description
- Candidates working in this post are appointed to investigate a wide variety of accidents, pollution incidents, and alleged infractions of the Canada Shipping Act and the Canada Labour Code.
- They’re also appointed to act as project managers on multi-faceted audits/inspections of vessels covering nautical, marine engineering, and naval architecture.
- Candidates working in this post are appointed to approve the ship’s plans before construction.
- They’re also appointed to perform audits of ship safety systems, ship navigation, cargo handling and stowage procedures.
Job requirement
- Candidates must attain a dedicated secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
- Candidates working in this post must have experience in the development or implementation of quality assurance programs or systems.
- They also have dedicated experience as a port captain or as an independent surveyor to be eligible for this post.
- They must attain experience in the development or implementation of safety management systems.
- Candidates must attain dedicated experience in the development or implementation of quality assurance programs or systems.
- Candidates must be willing and able to work in a stressful environment with multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
- Candidates must attain the ability to provide advice on technical matters and resolve operational problems respecting the application of marine programs.
