Senior Internal Auditor

Canadian Pacific Railway has released a notification in which they’re inviting candidates for the post of Senior Internal Auditor. It’s crucial that candidates understand their duties and accountabilities and make an effort to excel. They will be responsible for conducting internal audits with a focus on vendor audits, process audits, and operations audits independently and objectively in accordance with the Institute of Internal Auditors (“IIA”) Standards. They will lead or be a member of the audit team conducting planning, risk assessment, design and execution of audit procedures, writing audit reports, presenting findings to management, and following up on management action plans.

Job description

  • Candidates will perform data analytics to identify non-compliances and control gaps.
  • They will communicate audit results and recommendations to management.
  • They will follow-up with management for timely completion of management action plans.
  • They will create and maintain audit working papers in audit management software.

Job requirement

  • Candidates must have a university degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
  • They should possess professional designation such as CPA, CIA, CFE, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • They must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of audit experience with strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of auditing principles and practices.
  • They must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within set deadlines.

Work setting

  • Candidates must have the ability to develop and apply knowledge of CPKC processes and technologies and the railroad industry.
  • They should possess the capability to assist with the initiatives taken to improve the internal audit practice at CPKC and other assurance/advisory projects as necessary.
