Job Description
- Candidates working in this post are appointed to contribute to various public reports on the Province’s economic and fiscal performance and outlook, such as the government’s Budget and Fiscal Plan, Quarterly Reports, and the British Columbia Financial and Economic Review.
- They’re also appointed to work closely with other branches in TBS and also provide economic analysis support to the Provincial Treasury in their relations with rating agencies and international investors.
- Candidates working in this post are appointed to conduct timely and accurate economic policy analysis and provide advice to the Minister of Finance and key stakeholders.
- They’re also appointed to proactively evaluate relevant policy issues through the use of current economic analysis methodologies.
- They’re also appointed to provide sound economic forecasting to support the government’s budget and fiscal planning.
- Candidates are also appointed to provide advice as a recognized expert in developing economic forecasts, policies and proposals.
Job requirement
- Candidates must have completed a postgraduate degree in Economics and 1 year of related experience in economic forecasting and economic policy analysis.
- Candidates must attain an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, including postgraduate degrees in other fields related to economics, data science, public policy, etc.
- Candidates must have experience in economic modelling and forecasting, such as database development and management, equation estimation, model testing, maintenance of large-scale macroeconomic models, and model-based economic forecasting.
- Candidates must have experience in conducting empirical research projects to analyze economic impacts.
- They must have dedicated experience in independently analyzing complex economic issues to provide advice, information and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Candidates must have dedicated experience with personal computers and experience in PC-based econometrics, statistics, and simulation packages.
- Candidates must attain the ability to lead team projects and train and mentor colleagues to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates are also appointed to provide briefing materials to senior executives.
