Job Description
- Candidates appointed at this post to investigate and act on possible breaches of security, criminal code violations, fire and safety hazards, illegal entry, theft, and malfunction working at this post.
- They’re accountable for responding to security and fire alarms in City vehicles and performing proactive patrols at city-owned or operated sites working at this post.
- Candidates are accountable for responding to public inquiries and performing guarded tours along designated routes and records.
- They’re accountable at this post to assist in the movement of visitors, employees and dignitaries working at this post.
- Candidates who apply for this post are required to resolve conflict situations, including staff and general public complaints and disputes.
- Maintain current knowledge of required legislation, resources, and City policies and procedures.
- They’re also appointed to comply with all applicable requirements contained in the Private Security and Investigative Service Act applied for this post.
Job requirement
- Candidates who applied for this post must have experience providing facility security, including the use of security systems and key systems, to be eligible for this post.
- They must attain post-secondary education in a discipline pertinent to the job function or the approved equivalent combination of education and experience to be eligible for this post.
- Applicants must have prior knowledge of relevant Security policies such as patrolling and emergency response and the Private Security and Investigative Services Act to be eligible for this post.
- Highly developed interpersonal and customer service skills, including conflict resolution, problem-solving, decision making and situational assessment.
- Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to respond to staff and the public courteously and effectively.
- People must attain the ability to prepare and maintain clear, concise, and legible security reports and detailed records to be eligible for this post.
