Job Description

  • The candidate will be required to slice cooked meats.
  • The candidate must shape, lace, and tie roasts, other meats, poultry, and seafood.
  • The candidate will be required to remove bones from meat.
  • The candidate must prepare special displays of meats, poultry, and fish products.
  • The candidate will be required to prepare special orders.
  • The candidate will be required to grind meats.
  • The candidate will be required to cut fish into steaks and fillets.
  • The candidate must be able to cut poultry into parts.
  • The candidate will be expected to cut, trim, and prepare standard meat cuts.
  • The candidate must cut carcasses, sides, and quarters.
  • The candidate will be expected to clean and prepare fish and shellfish.
  • The candidate will be required to wrap and package prepared meats.
  • The candidate will have to weigh meats for sale.
  • The candidate will be responsible for training meat cutters.
  • The candidate will be expected to sell meat to customers.
  • The candidate will be required to price meat products.
  • The candidate must clean meats in preparation for processing or cutting.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate should have minimum qualification of Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate must be well-organized.

Equipment and Machinery Experience

  • The candidate should have prior experience with a slicing machine, a sausage machine, a power grinder, and a manual cutting utensil.

Work Setting

  • The candidate must work in a Supermarket meat department or a Supermarket/grocery store.

Security and Safety

  • The candidate should be bondable and easily communicate.

Work Site Environment

  • The candidate will be required to work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to work in a cold or refrigerated environment.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

  • The candidate should be able to work in fast-paced busy environment.
  • The candidate should be willing to work under pressure.
  • The candidate should be required to handle heavy loads as part of routine work.
  • The candidate should be prepared for doing physically challenging tasks as part of daily work.
